Operating Hours: Unless indicated by $$$, events are free to the public and generally occur from 7pm to 9pm. Listed events may not necessarily coincide with other model railroad clubs in the area. With the exception of business meetings & private events, the Platte Valley & Western maintains an "Open Door" policy for club events. On most Friday nights, the door is open and visitors are welcome however trains may not always be running in the front area of the layout. The Platte Valley & Western Model Railroad Club is an independent Not for Profit Organization and is not a subsidiary of any other model railroad club. Donations are gladly accepted at all club events.

Monthly Open House Nights: Members of the Platte Valley & Western Model Railroad Club operate trains on the layout. The great majority of the rolling stock and locomotives is representative of the mid-1950's however more modern equipment may also run depending on individual members' collections and the theme of the open house.

Operations Nights: Trains representing the fall of 1953 will operate according to a timetable using radios, a train dispatcher and a "fast-clock". Most trains are made up and leave the Platte or Junction Yards between 7pm and 7:30pm. They then travel to the various towns on the railroad to deliver and pick up freight & passengers. They return between 8:30pm and 9pm to the yards where they are broken down and cars sorted according to their next destination.

Work Nights: Maintenance of Way(MOW) activities are found on real railroads to ensure that the trackage and other railroad facilities are kept in good condition to provide the highest quality of service to their customers. The PV&W is no exception. On MOW nights, there may not be trains running but generally there are other activities occurring on the layout including track cleaning, equipment replacement and scenery work. Please note that on Work Nights members may not always be available to answer questions.

Behind the Scenes Day: Due to the design of the railroad and the limitations of being in the old station jail with 3 foot thick stone walls, only a small portion is visible from the public viewing area. On limited occasions, visitors are invited to view "behind the scenes" areas of the layout. Be sure to bring your camera for an opportunity to get some great pictures of the areas that are not generally visible to the public. Space is limited and reservations are required. Email info@pvwrr.org for more details or to sign up.

PV&WMRC Business Meetings
: On nights indicated as PV&WMRC Business Meeting Nights, there will be a business meeting of the Platte Valley & Western Model Railroad Club. There will be no trains running these nights and the railroad will not be open for viewing.

Please Note: The above schedule is subject to change without notice. Events outside the control of the members of the PV&W may occur that may alter the above schedule. Display of specific equipment cannot be guaranteed as most equipment (locomotives & rolling stock) is owned and operated by individual club members.
