SUMMER MAINTENANCE WORK - thru September 4th - During the months of July & August, the members of the Platte Valley & Western Model Railroad complete our summer work projects. There will not be any trains running during this time.
Public Open Houses: Members of the Platte Valley & Western Model Railroad Club operate trains on the layout. The great majority of the rolling stock and locomotives is representative of the mid-1950's however more modern equipment may also run depending on individual members' collections and the theme of the open house.
Open Door Nights: With the exception of club business meetings & private events, the Platte Valley & Western maintains an "Open Door" policy for club events. On Operations & Maintenance of Way Nights, the door is open and visitors are welcome however trains may not be running on the railroad in public view.
Operations Nights: Trains representing the fall of 1953 will operate according to a way-freight timetable using radios and a "fast-clock". Most trains are made up and leave the Platte or Junction Yards between 7pm and 7:30pm. They then travel to the various towns on the railroad to deliver and pick up freight. They return between 8:30pm and 9pm to the yards where they are broken down and cars sorted according to their next destination.
Work Nights: Maintenance of Way(MOW) activities are found on real railroads to ensure that the trackage and other railroad facilities are kept in good condition to provide the highest quality of service to their customers. The PV&WRR is no exception. On MOW nights, there may not be trains running but generally there are other activities occurring on the layout including track cleaning, equipment replacement and scenery work. Please note that on Work Nights members may not always be available to answer questions.
Please Note: The above schedule is subject to change without notice. Events outside the control of the members of the PV&WRR may occur that may alter the above schedule. Display of specific equipment cannot be guaranteed as most equipment (locomotives & rolling stock) is owned and operated by individual club members.
